As you might know last week I was in London for a blogger event. I had a bit of time to kill before the event so I headed down to Oxford Street to do a bit of shopping. I had a little wander around the new LUSH store before making my way over to Selfridges to build my own BirchBox!
Until September 27th BirchBox have their own stand in the Oxford Street Selfridges where you can create your own beauty box. For £15 you get a special edition Selfridges box which you can fill with your own choice of 6 products. You can pick two make-up items, one skincare item, one body care item, one haircare item and one beauty treat.
Here is what I picked in my build your own Birchbox stand...
Make-up :
Benefit POREfessional - I've been after this for a while now and I'm so glad I finally picked it up! POREfssional is an oil free primer that smooths out pores and fine lines so you have a nice base to apply your make up.
Lord & Berry Couture Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Black - A bit boring I know, but I always see Lord & Berry products on Asos and I really wanted to try something that I know I will use. This pencil eyeliner will be perfect for everyday use and will make creating a smokey eye a piece of cake.
Skincare :
Ren Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial - I'd never heard of this brand or product before so I was keen to give it a go. You apply the treatment onto clean skin before you go to bed and it does all the work while you sleep. The overnight facial promises to brighten and even out your complexion so you are left looking refreshed the next day.
BodyCare :
Bliss Lemon & Sage Body Butter - Another brand I haven't heard of but I cant wait to use this product. Although I haven't opened this one yet, I caught a whiff of the tester at the counter and it smells incredible. This paraben free body butter contains coconut oil and vitamin E to leave your skin feeling soft and moisturized.
Haircare :
Parlor By Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray - These sorts of products are old news now but this is the first time I've gotten to hands on a sea salt spray. This moisturizing spray gives you beach style waves without the sand.
Beauty Treat :
Regenerate Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste - I've used Colgate forever so it's nice to get a chance to try something a bit different. This toothpaste restores enamel, protects against cavities, restores whiteness and has little sparkles in it which is my favorite aspect. I've used it a of couple times now and I'm going to review it soon as it's not like any toothpaste I've used before!
I'm looking forward to trying out all of these products and I can't wait to get my hands on a regular BirchBox as I've kind of missed opening a surprise beauty box every month since I've canceled my Glossybox Subscription.
You can get your first box for just £5 if you enter the code SELFRIDGES at the checkout!

Last Tuesday I was lucky enough to be invited down to London to the Pegasus Healthy Beauty Showcase. The event promoted a healthier more natural approach to beauty and gave a few brands the chance to show off their newest products.
The first stand I came across was COLLECTION. They were promoting several new products, some of which I was able to take home to try. Next month COLLECTION will be releasing 4 brand new pallets, each of which focus on a specific area. From October 14th you will be able to pick up the #ConcealAndLightLikeAPro Palette, the #FaceTheDay Palette, the #BlushAndGlow Palette and the #YourStyleYourMood Palette. They were also showcasing another of their new releases; the Collection Illuminating Touch Foundation, which you can get your hands on from the 23rd of September. While I was there I decided to get skin matched by their makeup artist who also works on the XFactor, obviously I was the palest shade available.
The Trilogy stand was were I headed to next as they had a gorgeous little set up displaying their new cleanser. The cleanser, which comes with an organic cotton cloth has been formulated with mango butter, coconut, sunflower and rosehip oils so it has a very pretty floral scent. This new product claims to melt away even long wear and waterproof makeup leaving your skin feeling clean and soft.
Another brand I was particularly interested in was Weleda, a company I hadn't previously heard of. They were showcasing their new range of Almond body care which smells incredible. Having eczema prone skin I'm always on the hunt for good quality skin care products and the new range from Weleda looks like it would be perfect for me. The new products which are specially formulated for sensitive skin include a hand cream, body lotion, body wash and a soothing facial oil.
One new release I was looking forward to checking out was the Avene TriAcneal Expert after hearing so many good reviews of their other skincare products. Although I don't suffer with acne myself I do get the occasional break out which can be very embarrassing for someone my age who should have grown out of getting spots as far as I was concerned. I learnt that 40% of grown women suffer with a form of acne so it's really quite common, but TriAcneal Expert can help eliminate and prevent blemishes.
When I think of beauty, I think of makeup, skin care and hair care so I was quite surprised to see a company offering a range of supplements to keep us looking our best. Solgar were there to promote their 3 new products; the Hyaluronic Acid Complex, the Skin Nails and Hair Formula and the Biotin. I'd never really thought about taking supplements before but after reading about the benefits which include healthy hair growth and keeping skin plump and smooth, I might be tempted to give them a go.
The last stand I came to was Dr.Organic. They were showcasing their new range of Bio-active hair care enriched with hemp oil. Hemp oil contains many nutrients that can help with hair growth, hair density and reduced hair loss. The range includes Rescue Shampoo, Rescue conditioner, Restoring Hair & Scalp Treatment and an Intensive Conditioning Hair Mask which you can pick up in Holland & Barrett stores. Although they were promoting their new products, I was particularly interested in one of last years releases, Snail Gel. I hate snails, I always step on them when its dark but I was intrigued by the idea of putting their secretion on my skin. I was lucky enough to receive one of their snail gel products in my goody bag and I'm very excited to try it out!
Other brands at the event include Bio Oil, Lavidal, Lloyds Pharmacy, Manuka Doctor, MICRO Nail, Rapid White, Skincere and Witch who were all showcasing their exciting new releases as well as some of their best selling products.
There was also a very interesting talk covering beauty blogging, product innovation, key audience insights and more. We heard from 4 special guests; beauty commentator and author Imogen Matthews, beauty journalist and co-founder of BeautyMART Anna-Marie Solowji, Google mobile expert Catherine Forrest and beauty blogger Jane Cunningham.
I left the event with lots to think about, lots to write about and lots of goodies to try out.
If you want to see the products I came away with I'll do another post or maybe a video showing them? I'll also be reviewing them too in the next couple of months!
Thanks for reading!

You might have remembered me posting about Bacchus bar on my birthday a couple of weeks ago. This is where me and Sean chose to eat for my second birthday meal. I'd never been to Bacchus bar before but after hearing about it from a friend and realizing it was in the basement of the hotel we were staying in we wanted to give it a go!
Bacchus bar has a spooky medieval theme to it and the interior is amazing. I'd never been to a bar like this outside of Disneyland and I loved it. There seemed to be separate themed rooms and although some of them were closed when we ate there I could see a library, an Egyptian theme room and a Victorian style dining room. I'd love to come back when all the of the rooms are open and have a good look around.
me and Sean chose to eat in the Library just off the main bar area. After debating what to order I opted for the ultimate beef burger and Sean picked the mixed grill. Having never eaten here before we weren't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised when our massive meals arrived in huge trays.
My meal was delicious and so big I couldn't finish it which never happens. The chips were cooked just how I like them and the coleslaw which I think was handmade had a bit of a spicy kick to it which I loved. The burger came with two beef patties, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, several onion rings and BBQ sauce, it was amazing.
We didn't hang around too long for drinks as it was a Sunday night and it was closing early. But they seemed to be fairly priced and there was a lot of choice. The staff were also very friendly and happy to help even that late on a Sunday evening.
I'd really like to go back to Bacchus bar again to try out some of their other dishes and maybe have a wander around the other rooms too. I'm really glad that we chose to eat here for my birthday and I would definitely recommend dinning here especially if you are a big eater.

I've wanted to do a 'Face of the day' post for a while now to show you guys how I use my favorite products. I've finally got around to taking some photos of my favorite makeup look and I wanted to talk a bit about it and how I create the look.
I start the look by applying pencil eyeliner to my upper waterline to give the appearance of bigger eyes. I wasn't blessed with the gift of huge beautiful eyes so I need all the help I can get here. After that I move onto eyeshadow which I wear most days.
For the last few weeks I've been very into my dusty matte pinks. I picked up this gorgeous L'Oreal Palette as it had several matte pink and brown shades as well as a few pretty shimmery ones. I've been using it pretty much none stop as I love the colours so much. The shades don't actually have names which is a shame but my favorite colours to use are the 3rd down from the top and the 4th. I find this palette really easy to use and at just £15 I am very impressed!
After I have finished applying my eyeshadow I line my upper lash line with pencil eyeliner. I actually use a very fine makeup brush with eyeliner on as I get a much neater line. I then go on to apply lots and lots of mascara as I have very little lashes and I want to open my eyes up. I've been using the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara for around 2 months now and I'm very happy with it. I find it is very similar to the famous Roller Lash Benefit released earlier this year.
When I have applied enough mascara I move onto liquid eyeliner. I think most people do this first but I like apply it after as how thick my lashes look will depend on how thick my eyeliner is. I like to go for the classic flicks but I like mine quite short and thin unless I'm going out for the night in which case I can make them a bit more dramatic.
Its then time to apply my foundation. Again I think most people start with foundation them more onto making up their eyes but I make that much mess with my eyeshadow and cock up my liquid eyeliner a few times before it goes right, so it's best to do this last.
I'll wipe away any excess eyeshadow that has fallen into my checks and apply a thin layer of moisturizer.
Then I will apply a small amount of Body Shop BB Cream mixed again with moisturizer as I think it gives me a nice glow. I will set all of this with a thin layer of Collection powder, I used the shade #01 Candlelight.
When I am happy with my foundation I will move on to bronzing and highlighting. I'm fairy new to this so I only have a very basic cheap kit. I really want to invest in a nice bronzing and highlighting kit so if you guys have any recommendations please let me know!
I dust a small amount of bronzer just below my cheek bones to make my face look slightly thinner and more defined. Sometime I will bring this up and around my hairline but that's only if I am going 'out out'. After I am bronzed I will apply a thin layer of highlighter with my finger on my chin, on my cupids bow, down my nose, between my eyebrows and finally just under my eyes moving outwards.
After I feel confident that I don't look too sparkly I apply my lippy. I start with this Essence lip pencil in shade #11 In The Nude. It was only £1 and is a very similar shade my well loved Velvet Teddy lipstick. I'm very careful to follow my lip line exactly as I can easily end up with huge Kylie Jenner lips and that's not the look I want to go for. I then generously apply my Mac Velvet Teddy Lipstick and I'm good to go.
So this is my go to makeup look at the moment. I'm sure I'll switch it up again in a couple of weeks, in which case I will have a new face of the day post for you!
I'd love to know what you thought of this type of post. Would you like to see more face of the day and makeup tutorial posts?
