CHARLECOTE PARK

A couple of months ago me, my mom and my dad took a trip to Charlecote Park in Warwick. We've all recently signed up to the National Trust and we are determined to get a lot of use out of it. Call me boring but I love walking around old buildings and gardens, so being a National Trust member suits me perfectly.

Charlecote Park is around a half an hour drive away from our house so wandering around the house and gardens was an easy way to kill a few hours on a lazy Sunday. The gardens are beautiful and the grounds which are perfectly landscaped host dozens of free roaming deer. We actually managed to walk pretty close to the deer which was a lovely surprise. Pigs are also kept at Charlecote but they aren't half as pretty to look at.

The house is a lot bigger than it looks at first and it is still lived in today so you can only see certain rooms. The rooms are all decorated to look how they would in the Victorian era and most rooms had a volunteer ready to tell you all about it. My favorite room was the huge library which I completely forgot to photograph as I was too busy eyeing up the books. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they have some of the original books by the Bronte sisters.

After wandering around the house for a while we headed over to the gatehouse which features an extensive taxidermy collection. I'd never really seen any taxidermy in real life before but after seeing their collection I would love to get a stag head for my wall.

I really enjoyed spending a few hours at Charlecote Park and were all going to go back near Christmas time as they decorate the house with traditional Victorian Christmas decorations.

Thanks for reading!
